Introducing 2degrees Network Partners

2degrees today announced it has re-branded its wholesale business unit to 2degrees Network Partners, to better reflect the modern, software enabled services it offers to its customers.

Chief Commercial Officer Paul Mathewson said;

"The days of a traditional wholesale operation that is tacked onto a telco is a thing of the past for us.  What we bring to the market now are telco-services underpinned by a world-class on-demand digital self-service portal we call Flex."

Mathewson says 2degrees has a long heritage in the wholesale market and post its 2022 merger has more than 4600 Kms of fibre and more than 2000 mobile towers, serving more than 1.7m consumers, households, and businesses across the country.

''We are excited to announce our new wholesale brand and capability today, which enables our partners to have even greater access to our incredible network infrastructure.”

Mathewson says that 2degrees partners with some of the world’s largest technology players, international telcos, and best-known utility brands in New Zealand, and prides itself on the partnering approach that it brings to its business relationships.

''Whether it’s working with household brands or new businesses to enter the mobile or fixed space, partnering with managed service providers, or sourcing, building and operating networks for some of the world’s largest technology players, we are well positioned to be the best partner for network solutions in NZ.”

"We have incredible fixed and mobile infrastructure assets and see huge opportunity to work with our partners to grow their businesses while leveraging our significant scale and digital capability.''

Commenting on Nova Energy's partnership with 2degrees Network Partners, Michael O'Donnell, General Manager Retail – Nova Energy commented:

"Nova’s launch into the mobile market has exceeded our forecasts and expectations.  Picking 2degrees was a clear-cut decision given their collaborative and shared success approach. During the set-up, launch and now BAU phases 2degrees has been there to support and guide us, which has been a vital component in our success to date."

Dan Kelly, Chief Customer Officer, Sky, referring to their broadband market entry, commented:

''It's been quite a journey and it's fair to say we at Sky have enjoyed the ride. The arrangement with 2degrees is a true partnership, with an open and transparent way of working which has contributed to Sky's customer value proposition."

Mathewson says 2degrees' customers say they need it to be easier to access telco services, and that they are looking for greater flexibility and control over the products they offer to their end-users.  2degrees’ investment in the Flex-platform responds to this need and reflects 2degrees’ commitment to being an open, nimble, and flexible network partner.

"Our goal is to put our network in our customers hands – making it easy to access, consume and manage."

Mathewson says that the New Zealand MVNO market in particular lags behind international trends, but he expects this to change over the coming years.

"We are making it far easier to launch, operate and grow a new telco business in New Zealand than it has ever been.

"We are seeing a lot of interest from both new and existing businesses who want to extend the range of products and services they offer to their customers.  Strategically, being New Zealand’s leading network partner makes sense for us as we look to reach even more customers through our substantial network assets.''

And we don’t forget the human touch says Mathewson:

"We have a team of specialists who are dedicated to world-class account management, solution design and delivery, led by our General Manager of Network Partners, Charlie Boyd.”

"Our partners want solutions built on leading technology and infrastructure as well as support from experts throughout the customer lifecycle.  2degrees Network Partners packages this all up and our team is there to work alongside our customers through the design, build and operate phases.  The scope of what the team does, and how they engage with our partners to deliver - is tremendous" says Boyd.
